EasyEclipse: Eclipse with a human face on Kickstarter

Yes, it is "enhanced" paid version to Eclipse for Java. Moreover, it is planned not just a one-time fundraising on kickstarter, and even do the selling of the licensed version in the future. This was to be expected, and (IMHO) here is why:

the
    the
  • the Eclipse development environment for Java developers practically stopped. Of course, supported the new standards, everything works smoothly and fast, but something is missing. The Eclipse Foundation is primarily solves the problems of large companies and the convenience of the users strength remains;
  • the
  • at the same time, Eclipse is a powerful platform, and part of the problem to solve is quite simple;
  • the
  • for example Intellij Idea, you can see that programmers are willing to pay for the IDE if it is convenient to work. Therefore, it is possible to try such a model and with Eclipse.

In fact, EasyEclipse for Java.

Who is behind this? Pascal Rapicault — developer and one of the architects of the Eclipse, plus two other people. And, although EasyEclipse and is not an official project of the Eclipse Foundation, a part of the code will have to committing in Eclipse, or to negotiate with other teams, so they have something added or corrected. So part of the money collected will go to the developers of Eclipse.

What they want to do? first, release build of Eclipse, which is out of the box supported Java, Git, SVN, CVS, XML, HTML, CSS, Ant, Maven, review the default settings and UI and make it more user friendly. (And don't ask why, for example, integration with SVN is not included in the standard Eclipse or do not want, or can't because of the license; but in all EasyEclipse). What else? Add different whistles type "Tips and Tricks", a global search; more template code; then remove the excess from the menu and toolbar and modify a file.

This is only part of the ideas that Pascal is going to push the release of the (approximately — December, 2014 but the beta will be early and often). There are other ideas, but they will require more time. Getting feedback from users, statistics, etc. — are planned.

whatever happened to Eclipse? He's not going anywhere. EasyEclipse is not a fork, all the changes in the platform will go to opencores and whistles, apparently, will remain proprietary.

Fly or not? a Vote on kickstarter, you need to collect 120K in 45 days. Will the Eclipse Foundation, if slightly miss — I do not know; but the main thing is to see if there is any interest.
